How it is scored
- 10 points: published in full
- All covered: an explicit statement that there are no other charges, or a list with amounts and who pays.
- 5 points: partly published
- Some covered, for example only 'no upfront fee'.
- 0 points: not found on public pages
- Nothing stated.
Why it matters to a creator
A commission can come with setup fees, monthly retainers, tool fees or ad spend billed on top. Knowing every charge up front lets you work out the real monthly cost, and you see any exit fee before the day you need to leave.
How to check it yourself
- Search the pricing page and the FAQ for "setup", "onboarding", "retainer", "monthly fee", "ad spend" and "exit fee".
- Note whether the site says there are no other charges of any kind, or only "no upfront fee".
- Check the terms page for costs passed on to you, such as content production or paid promotion.
Question to ask an agency
Apart from the commission, is there anything I would pay at any point, including setup, monthly, tool, advertising, production or exit costs?
